Hot Water System FAQ:

I had gas steam old time radiator heating system which had some problem so I checked around and decided to install gas heat with hot water got professional plumber and he install boiler and copper tube radiators when he installed we tested and room warmed up 10-15 degrees within 20 to 25 minutes but weather was not cold that day next week when it got real cold around 30 and i tried to bring up Temperature as it felt cold in room i raise to 80 F and had it high for about 1 hour and temperature went up to 73 and would not go up further so i called plumber to check he came for 1 minute and checked boiler pump and pipes and said it happens sometimes if there is air in there but there is nothing wrong and the system is working fine. I understand that if things are working fine it should heat up to the 80 F within at least 45 minutes even my 50 year old inefficient steam radiator system used to do that within 30 minutes . Now he says give it more time to heat up and hot water system takes long time to heat up .If anybody has such experience or anybody can guide what could be wrong. Thanks for help

Hot Water System FAQ:

I never have used a radiator before until now. I just moved into a new apartment that uses a radiator for main heat. Last night it was really hot, now it’s really cold.

I know there is the unit it’s self, an air valve, and a hot water valve. How do you regulate the heat?

I thought you are suppose to turn the hot water knob but which way takes the heat away and which way makes it turn on?

Help.
