‘Oil Burner’
What is required to use a solar water heater with oil fired hot water based board heat?
Sunday, January 25th, 2009Hot Water System FAQ:
I am looking to get this done professionally, but I would be interested to get tips from anyone who has such a system or has set one up. If you send heated water to the oil burner and reduce the amount of work the burner has to do, will it still work? Is there a better way without tearing out my existing heating system?
one clarification - I am not in a posiiton ot replace my entire heating system, only to supplement it. I am doing this BECAUSE of the price of oil.

For an oil burner - is it best to just lower the aqua-stat setting for the summer or shut the system off?

I have heard that it is best to leave the system on at the lower setting and I realize that not much fuel is consumed however with the price of fuel skyrocketing every drop is prescious especially if we have a hard winter. Hot water is not affected since I have a seperate gas fired heater.
